Mud Marbles
Meet Marilyn and Kathryn, sisters and neighbors whose favorite pastime is sipping martinis from mason jars on Marilyn’s front porch in the gulf-front town of Orange Beach, Alabama. They reminisce about family and the times they’ve visited Cotton Tree.
Miss Mincy is the girls’ source of stability and has given the entire family advice and inspiration throughout the years. While some could misconstrue Mincy’s presence, she is not a maid, she is a member of the Chandler-Drake household in Cotton Tree.

Author, Tolar Miles
Tolar Miles is a Southern novelist and an author of children’s literature. With a collection of children’s manuscripts,she has already delighted young readers with a published early reader.
Tolar’s upcoming children’s chapter book, “Treasure On Shell Island, ” published by EverImagine Books is scheduled for release June 2025.
In addition to her work in children’s literature, she crafts compelling Southern fiction, having already published two novels that resonate with the heart and soul of the South.
Tolar believes that her upbringing in the South has provided her with a treasure trove of experiences, fueling her creativity and inspiring a multitude of stories. However, she acknowledges that life often presents its own challenges, sometimes interrupting her writing journey.
When she’s not weaving tales, Tolar cherishes moments spent with her family and her rescue pets. She loves visiting art museums and has an irresistible attraction to antique shops, when not reading and writing.
Tolar studied creative writing at Florida State University. Miles began writing stories for children’s magazines before she published her first children’s book titled, “Where The Palm Trees Sway.”
Delta
Readers of Mud Marbles will remember Delta, a distant cousin of the Drake family who comes to visit Cotton Tree from Savannah, Georgia. As soon as Delta hears of a possible murder, the memorable road trips begin. Like most Southern households, hospitality abounds. Delta’s hospitality extends beyond the cocktail shaker. She has help with her hospitality as she frequents the famous River Street Sweets® of Savannah, Georgia.
